Most adults over 50 aren’t eating enough protein.
Protein becomes more important as we age because it helps maintain muscle, strength, balance, and independence.
In this quick tip, I share a simple protein goal that can help you stay stronger longer.
How much protein do you think you eat each day?
💧 Are you drinking enough water?
Many adults over 50 don’t drink enough water throughout the day, and dehydration can affect your energy, make you feel hungrier than you really are, and even contribute to stiff joints.
A simple starting goal is to drink about half your body weight in ounces of water each day. (For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, aim for about 75 ounces.)

Here’s a simple balance challenge you can try at home.
Can you stand on one leg for 10 seconds?
Try the other leg without holding onto anything.
If it’s more difficult than you expected, don’t be discouraged. Balance can often be improved with the right exercises and consistent strength training.

🚶 Walking is one of the healthiest activities you can do—but after age 50, it’s only part of the picture.
As we get older, we naturally lose muscle. That’s why strength training becomes so important. It helps you maintain muscle, improve balance, protect your bones, and stay independent.
The best plan? Keep walking **and** include strength training a couple of times each week.
